Binding is the act of using special tight
shirts to minimize the appearance of breasts and give the
illusion of a male chest.
I never really binded, being Asian, I inherited the Asian sized
chest (huzzah!!!). Furthermore, binding is terribly itchy, hot,
and inconvenient. I used a sports type undershirt that was tight
enough to flatten some but not tight enough to kill my air
supply. Ace bandages are strongly discouraged since they're
known to cause breathing problems, chest pains, bone bending and
other undesirable things.
